Each Studio Avana piece is handworked in fiber and metal, designed to be worn and crafted to endure.

FINISHES + CRAFTSMANSHIP

Metal finishes are thoughtfully matched to how each piece is worn and lived with, balancing long-term durability with the natural character of the materials.

FIBER + METAL JEWELRY. In order to protect the hand-stitched fiber work, each setting is sealed with a clear protective coating. This preserves the natural, warm golden finish of the setting, eliminating the need for metal polish near the delicate textile work.

METAL-ONLY JEWELRY. Handcrafted metal earrings, bracelets, hairpins, metal-only bolos, as well as metal bolo cords are left raw and uncoated to honor the authentic character of the metal. Whether allowing a natural patina to develop over time or preferring to preserve the original studio finish, raw metal offers the flexibility to age gracefully with wear or be easily buffed back to its original, bright warm finish whenever desired.

THE ESSENTIALS

STORAGE. Store your jewelry in its protective pouch/baggie between wears, away from bathroom humidity, to guard against snagging, surface scratched and premature oxidation.

BEAUTY FIRST. Apply lotions, perfumes, hairsprays, and cosmetics fully before putting on your jewelry.

WATER CARE. Remove jewelry prior to swimming, bathing, or heavy exercise. While ambient humidity is fine, prolonged water exposure can dull threadwork and accelerate metal oxidation.

CLEANING

STITCHED FIBER PIECES: Fiber pieces can be very gently cleaned with a soft damp cloth or q-tip and mild dish soap. Dab lightly without rubbing, since the friction could cause threads to fray. Allow pieces to air-dry completely before storing.

14K GOLD-FILLED & STAINLESS STEEL: Clean with mild soap and water only.

UNSEALED RAW BRASS & STERLING SILVER: To lift oxidation or to fully restore to the original studio finish, there are several easy options...

EVERYDAY CARE. Buff metal surfaces gently with a jeweler’s polishing cloth (such as a Sunshine cloth) to quickly restore a warm, even satin luster.

FULLY RESTORE. Brasso Brass Cleaner used in a well ventilated area is an easy a quick option. For a DIY alternative, mix 1 tbsp Lemon Juice + 4 tbsp Baking Soda, creating a paste. With either option, gently massage the metal, rinse and dry thoroughly.

A FAVORITE ALTERNATIVE. Use Steel Wool Grade-00. Tear off a small piece of steel wool, add water and a small amount of household soap. Gently buff your pieces until you reveal a beautiful, bright golden finish. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
